SCHOOLS & YOUTH ENGAGEMENT

THE HEALTHY CHOICE CAN BE THE EASY CHOICE.

Lift Your Students. Strengthen Your School and Community.

Schools have long been one of the most important factors in helping kids make good choices about eating well and staying healthy. Blue Zones Project offers school leaders programs and policies that make it easier to teach students how they can lead longer, happier lives.

Schools are in a powerful position to influence health and well-being for generations. Taking action is easier than ever in an environment of community-wide change, with local resources available for support. Contact our Blue Zones Project team to get started with the Blue Zones Project School Pledge.

Benefits For Schools

• Evidence-based strategies to help children grow up to be healthier, more productive members of society
• The implementation of Blue Zones Project policies and programs increase student engagement and excellence in the classroom
• Healthier students earn higher test scores, have higher attendance rates, and tend to be better adjusted and socially connected
• Education of the entire family about how to improve well-being
• Access to Blue Zones Project marketing collateral for classrooms, cafeteria, and hallways to support well-being efforts
• Recognition for being part of an important community-wide project to improve well-being

Jacksonville's Approved Schools

Walking School Bus

A walking school bus is a group of children walking to school together. For elementary students, the group is accompanied by one or more adults. It can be as informal as a few families doing a “carpool” without a car or as formal as a mapped out walking route with regular meeting points, times, and volunteers.

Youth Engagement

Our goal is to inspire, engage, inform, and connect youth across Jacksonville to improve the trajectory of their health and well-being. Stay tuned for details about our upcoming community youth wellness event in 2024.

Youth Health Listening Sessions

These in-person events were all about listening to the voices of young people in shaping their own health and well-being. We were able to hear directly from the youth of our community, to help us can better understand their needs and concerns. Together, we are working towards creating a healthier future for our youth.
